Some of you may remember, but back on March 7th, I declared that I wanted to shed 40lbs by my 30th birthday. Well, with the trip to Jamaica done and dusted, now's the time for things to start. I have always wanted to shift some weight before but never really had the drive to see it through. I figured that by setting up this blog and making a note of progress, slip ups and my thoughts, not only would it help me keep track, but it would also keep me motivated.
So what got me finally deciding that now is the time to do something? Two things, first of all, some helpful person making the comment about "being the fat guy that's every ones friend", a comment that has stuck in my head for sometime. The second, seeing myself tagged in a couple of pictures from one of our nights in Jamaica (Thanks Bruce!). I could blame the look on the shirt, the angle or a bad photo, or I could look at the fact that I could do with shedding a few pounds.
What am I going to do? First of all, looking over my lifestyle, it would seem that my number one issue is a distinct lack of exercise, this will be the main focus. A while back, I purchased an exercise bike, some weights and an abs machine, these will once again see some action. Also, taking advantage of the nice weather will also be on the cards. Some long walks/runs/passing out around Wascana will be on the cards. Some good friends have offered to join me, thank you Lyndsaye, J.J and Kent.
So, to clarify, the goal is 40lbs by Feb 1st 2012 - Wish me luck and feel free to comment with any hints/tips you may have.
Haha, it sounds funny in a British accent!
